Install Procedure
- Make sure the users have FULL permissions to the top level of the kitman
shared folder ('T:\Admin\Cooks\Kitman')
- Run KitManSetup.exe
- It first asks where the application is to be installed, leave as default
- It then asks where the SUPPORT files are, this is 'T:\Admin\Cooks\Kitman'
- It will also install dotNet 1.1. We remove this later.
- BEFORE Launching KitMan give EVERYONE FULL PERMISSIONS to C:\Program
Files (x86)\kitman. This is to prevent Windows Virtual Store creating copies of critical files.
- Run the program and it will apply any updates that are available.
- Close the program
- Rename 'C:\Program Files (x86)\kitman\kitman.exe' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\kitman\kitman.exe.<date>' (where <date> is replaced with the current day's date).
- Extract 'kitman.exe' from the Zip file in the install folder and copy it to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\kitman'.
- Edit the file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\kitman\kitman,ini'
- Change [Auto Update Settings] as follows and save the file:
Status=0
Type=2
Download Directory=C:\Program Files (x86)\kitman\updates
Control File Name=au161.txt
Current File Version=20180626225953
- Run the program and let it apply any further updates.
- Login as user 'admin' with password 'install'.
- Open the 'Facilities' menu and select 'dotNet Version -> dotNet Version 4.7'
- Click 'Yes' when prompted to set the dotNet version to 4.7.
- Click 'Yes' when prompted to download critical files.
- Close the program.
- Re-run the program just to make sure it runs okay still.
- Assuming everything looks ok, you can now uninstall .Net 1.1. and remove full permissions for 'everyone' on 'C:\Program Files (x86)\kitman'.
Updating
Because you have disabled automatic updates via the ini file, to update manually you need to run the program, log in and choose 'Check for update' from the 'Help' menu.
