Your own SSL certificate

An individual certificate is needed for each unique web server address (e.g. www.ptlnet.com). At Precedence, of course, we have our own certificate for our secure servers which means that SSL sites hosted on our shared servers can be accessed without you having to purchase your own certificate. This will mean that the site will be accessed as https://secure.ptlnet.com/yoursite/. If you want your site to be accessed using your own domain (e.g. https://www.yourdomain.co.uk/), you will need to purchase your own certificate. If you have your own dedicated server, you will also need to purchase your own certificate. As a Thawte ISP Partner, we can sell Thawte certificates to you and advise both on procedures and implementation.
